A beautiful Poem

‎"O my Lord, if I worship you" ~ Rabia Basri

"O my Lord,

if I worship you
from fear of hell, burn me in hell.

If I worship you
from hope of Paradise, bar me from its gates.

But if I worship you
for yourself alone, grant me then the beauty of your Face."

This poem made me feel weak in the heart and bought tears to my eyes. It's a beautiful poem.

God created heaven and hell for a reason.

Hell is there to fear. So fearing it is good and people should not be condemned for it.

Heaven is a good thing to want, so if people do good wanting to reach paradise they should not be punished for it.

It is like saying I work to earn some money, and because of that I should not be paid.

I just KNEW you were gna say something like that! I was thinking it too but guess it's just talking about the strength of the actual love for Allah swt which is great Smile

It'd be great to achieve that, but is it possible...

rabia basri (ra) said this in a state of ecstasy.

The question is how well you can comprehend God. We know that we cant in totality - we are limited in comprehension, maybe to just signs even.

Of course God created them for a reason, just like he created us for a reason and the rest of the universe.

I think you missed the point of this poem.

Who said fearing hell is not good? And who said aiming for Heaven is bad? You clearly missed the point of the poem.

Your own soul is nourished when you are kind; it is destroyed when you are cruel.

I know people WalliAllah's who are at this level. It is definitely possible. Love the Rasool and you will love Allah tala to this extent.

(this is also mentioned in Quran Shareef...not sure which Surah. But its something along the lines of to get closer to Allah you have to love the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) )

Your own soul is nourished when you are kind; it is destroyed when you are cruel.

Whether its in a state of ecstasy or not, the point is to love Allah tala for him! Not to love him for Heaven or Hell...

Your own soul is nourished when you are kind; it is destroyed when you are cruel.

"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi

there was a while where i used to think, it doesnt matter, im muslim, i'll just burn in hell for a while and then go paradize

idiot much, i just didnt realise the GRANDEUR of hell.

Now i Fear God and Hope for His mercy.

and i know Jahannam is where im gona end up if im "bad" i guess there's an element of fear.. and jannah, well...ALL THE STUFF YOU WANT!!!! but i wanna deserve it, i'm the type who doesnt enjoy good stuff until i feel like i deserved it, so i'll work for Jannah!

but really its all about Allah <3
and the prophet (pbuh) and well...when you read about him and what he did etc...and you're feeling a bit emotionally down, then you might well end up in tears at the fear of not guetting to meet him (pbuh) Cray 2

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

if you enter jannah it is because of the mercy of Almighty Allaah, not beacuse of your deeds.

I started looking for you, not knowing
how blind that was.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Jalaladin Rumi is a great poet and mystic! I was just reading about him today !The poetry he writes is breath taking and comes so natural to him.

Your own soul is nourished when you are kind; it is destroyed when you are cruel.

so stop looking for better but look around for what you've got.

but...the door opening? what does that represent? stepping into what? chaos? ignorance?

the last line is just awesome!!

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Be strong Lilly! Don't think about not being able to see the Rasool and Nabi Paak on day the Qiyaamah. Make it your goal and be strong and strive towards Allah and his Prophet.

Your own soul is nourished when you are kind; it is destroyed when you are cruel.
