Hair

Is there any particular reason why Muslim women tend to have long hair, as I haven't seen any with short hair?
I heard that it's because when they die they are able to go to heaven if they have long hair, as Allah will pull them up by it.. is this true? x

No that isn't true.

Many Muslim women have short hair, many cover their hair too so you wouldn't know if it was short or long.

Oh and welcome to the Revival Smile

Oh right, thankyou for responding to my question, you have been helpful

I have heard something like this re the Jewish males who have long side-burns. Don't know how true it is though.

my friend was saying something about how when we're older we cant cut our hairs anymore, coz when we die we need it (hair) to cover chest... WTFRick?

you can die young..

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

TBF you wouldn't have that problem if you were young...

lol

I've always been taught that its preferable to have long hair because on the day of Qiyamat, everyone will be naked, and the womens body parts would be showing. So if you have long hair, the body parts would be covered.. something like that

i think that's what my friend was referring to. just dont take anything until people give you evident proof. never heard of that imo.

And this being preferable is mentioned where?...so women can have long hair to cover their bodies whilst men can show everything?

The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said: “No doubt, you would be gathered (on the Day of Judgment) barefooted, naked and uncircumcised.” In which Aisha (ra) said: I said: “O Messenger of Allah! Will the men and the women look at each other?" He said: “The situation will be too hard for them to pay attention to that." [Bukhari]

Its not mentioned anywhere, i've just always been taught to have long hair by madrassah teachers and that.. True about the men though

and what we're saying is that you shouldnt follow, believe and obey everything that comes out of the mouth of people "at mosque"

thats how other religions lost themselves, starting to misinterpret, interpret with thier own opinion, make up stuff. people stopped asking the right questions at the right time. and stopped asking for evidence and back up.

Islam is factual, the "facts" being the Quran and the Sunnah. if its not from there. dump it.

That's potentially the wrong message to be giving out - esp the not believing what you're told bit. There has to be a certain amount of trust in such a person as they are in a position where they should be giving valuable and right info.

People should look carefully before choosing their teachers, instead of questioning their teacher in such a way.

Ofcourse, ask questions to gain more knowledge, be clear, learn the truth...

when it comes to stuff other than general fiqh issues. a good teacher would provide evidence for what they say. i think.

Which is why a good teacher should be found first time round or a bad teacher left asap - I think thats a better message to send rather than making people question their teacher's knowledge etc, all time, and not trusting them properly to give the right info.

"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi

you have to figure out your teacher's chatting crap before looking for another one.

I think we're going in circles :/

"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi

dont know, that would require me processing info which i cant do at the mo

another point tho. kids dont choose their teachers.

(I meant the parents choosing and then checking right info is being given)

i think we have a different understanding of "mosque". i meant the local mosque attendance stuff you go to just coz your cuz/sis and everybody else you know went, you go up the classes until there's no more classes then you graduate and can FINALLY hang out afterschool coz you dont have to rush home coz you have mosque. the local mosque being led by the local-something-and-his-mates.

im pretty sure teaching needs qualifications...

i dont know many parents of OUR generation who do that. SOME are changing, but slowly. we're the next parents who're gona have to do that. and inshaAllah we'll know better.

Some people can have a good understanding, or *better* understanding of certain things, without the qualifications?

but yeah agreed about the attitude of parents.

then a reputations, or word of mouth from trusty people. SOMETHING!

It is good to know the evidence, but before when a scholar was asked something and they gave the answer, no evidence was needed to be stated and people accepted it. Nowadays people ask for evidence for everything. But then there are people out there who are giving wrong answers so where do you draw the line.
